Muhammadu Buhari, the former President of Nigeria, has claimed that he improved the country’s economy throughout his eight years in office.
He remarked that, during his presidency, both the economy and security were in a better state than when he assumed leadership
Buhari made these remarks on Wednesday while hosting members of the Katsina State Correspondents’ Chapel at his residence in Daura, Katsina State, during a courtesy visit.
He reflected on the situation before his administration, which took over from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government, highlighting the significant security and economic challenges the country faced. He asserted that his government successfully tackled the threats of terrorism and economic struggles.
He elaborated that the security and economic strategies developed and executed by his government were instrumental in alleviating the challenges he inherited from previous administrations.
Speaking in Hausa, Buhari stated, “Security and economy improved significantly in Nigeria under my administration compared to what we met in 2015. Things will continue to improve in Nigeria.”
As reported by Arise News, the former President indicated that only those within the corridors of power truly comprehend the administrative challenges facing the nation, emphasizing that leaders often encounter obstacles in the execution of policies and programs.
Earlier, Yusuf Ibrahim-Jargaba, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, commended the former President for his efforts in combating terrorism, banditry, and other security issues during his time in office.
Ibrahim-Jargaba added that Buhari’s hard work, dedication, and altruistic service played a key role in fostering the nation’s unity.
