Three native doctors arraigned over alleged involvement in money r!tuals in Anambra

Three traditional healers facing allegations of supporting criminal activities and participating in money rituals in Anambra State have been brought before the State High Court.

Those arraigned are Onyebuchi Okocha, widely known as Onyeze Jesus; Chidozie Nwangwu, popularly referred to as Akwa Okuko; and Ekene Igboekweze, also called Eke Hit.

They were arraigned in a Court presided over by Honourable Justice Jude Obiorah.

The native doctors were later called individually before the court, where their charges were formally presented in a courtroom packed to capacity.

The charges primarily centered on the alleged preparation of money rituals and protective charms for criminal elements.

Presiding Judge, Justice Onuorah, adjourned the case to April 11, 2025.

Speaking to journalists after the proceedings, one of the defense counsels, Remigus Okoli, claimed the state government had orchestrated a scheme to secure the remand of the defendants. He argued that the accused were not granted sufficient time to prepare their defense.

Attempts to get comments from the state’s legal team, led by F.C. Okeke, were unsuccessful.
