The Mokopane Regional Court has sentenced Tshepho Mogoshadi Mphahlele, a 35-year-old woman, to 15 years in prison for the savage murder of her twin sister in Ga Mogotlane village, Limpopo, South Africa. As confirmed by Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, a spokesperson for Limpopo police, she was convicted for the brutal killing that occurred on January 18, 2023.
In the courtroom proceedings, it was revealed that the defendant assaulted her twin sister during a heated dispute, repeatedly stabbing her with a knife until she succumbed to the injuries at their home. Following the murder, Mphahlele dismembered her sister’s body using an axe before escaping from the scene. She voluntarily surrendered to the Moletlane police station on January 20, leading to her subsequent arrest.
The case was assigned to Sergeant Rodney Mothiba, and he diligently worked on the case to ensure that the accused was denied bail until she was found guilty,” said Mashaba.
“The accused was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment for the murder of her twin sister.”
Hadebe added that no person has the right to take away someone’s life, even after being provoked.
