“Why Mr. Ibu’s adopted daughter and sons were invited by the Police” – Mr. Ibu’s ex-manager speaks out

Emeka Chochoo, the ex-manager of Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has disclosed the reasons behind the police summoning Mr Ibu’s adopted daughter, Jasmine Chioma Okafor, and his two sons, Daniel and Val.

As per reports, the trio was called in for questioning regarding the management of funds donated by compassionate Nigerians for Mr Ibu’s medical treatment.

Actress Doris Ogala disclosed on Wednesday night that Jasmine and Mr Ibu’s sons were held at Alagbon Police Station on suspicion of transferring a substantial amount, approximately N300 million, from the donation account to her personal account.

The funds were designated for Mr Ibu’s medical expenses, as the actor had recently undergone surgery leading to the amputation of one of his legs.

Amidst the belief that Mr Ibu’s wife, Stella Maris Okafor, prompted police involvement, tensions escalated. Stella Maris supposedly advocated for transparency and accountability in the utilization of the donated funds, accusing Jasmine of misappropriation. T

here were also claims that Stella Maris intended to use the money to purchase a new property.

“Mr. Ibu’s wife alleged that Jasmine moved N300 million out of the account. Ibu’s wife allegedly wanted them to buy her a new house from the money contributed so far for Ibu’s treatments. That’s why she arrested Jasmine,”Doris Ogala said.

In reaction to the unfolding events, Emeka Chochoo explained that the police summons was not an arrest and that the police had summoned Jasmine, Daniel, and Val to inquire about Mr Ibu’s statement.

Val, on the other hand, was supposedly left out of the matter because he had recently returned to the nation and was uninformed of what was going on.

“Yes, they were all invited by the police. I won’t call it arrest; the police invited them over Mr Ibu’s account. However, Val is left out as he knows nothing about what’s been happening. He just returned to the country,” Emeka Chochoo told punch.

“I have not been able to reach any of them,” the ex-manager added.

Given that Mr Ibu’s wife and adopted daughter had previously joined forces to beg for financial support from Nigerians, the dispute surrounding the management of the donated monies took an unexpected turn.

The request came after Mr. Ibu had surgery, and the actor’s health issues provoked an outpouring of generosity from well-wishers.
